Meet Matt

Not a career politician. Not a party insider. Just someone from this Island who's ready to fight for it.

A Life Built in Egmont

Born and raised in Summerside, Matt is proud to call Egmont home and believes our communities can have a strong future. Matt worked hard to put himself through school, including at Summerside Source for Sports, and as a hockey referee working games in Summerside and across Prince Edward Island. He understands the value of sports in bringing together communities, and has been heavily involved with Summerside Minor Hockey as a timekeeper and volunteer as well. While he loves our island and our country, he believes that better is possible and is committed to delivering real results for Egmont to improve the standard of living.

A Background Built on Giving Back

Matt comes to politics with a background in healthcare. He has studied Medical Science at Dalhousie University and has worked closely with several important health organizations. As a volunteer for Lung NSPEI, Matt delivered educational programming for students to learn about the effects of vaping. As a crisis responder for Kids Help Phone, Matt helps youth across Canada safely get through difficult times in their life, including dealing with suicide, abuse and maltreatment, substance use, and mental health disorders. Matt has also been an executive member of the Extra Awesome Society, a student-led organization focussing on the inclusion and education of youth with Down syndrome in weekly programs. He enters politics planning on bringing the same level of compassion and empathy to his job, and wants to give back to help his neighbours.

Ready to Provide a Fresh Approach

Matt brings a new face and a fresh approach to doing politics on PEI. He plans to run a positive, grassroots campaign focused on meeting voters where they’re at. He brings a youthful energy and hopes to encourage more youth to join his campaign to fight for a better future in Egmont. Through direct conversations on doorsteps and in community halls, Matt is committed to addressing the pressing issues facing local families—from affordable gas and groceries, to accessible healthcare, to strong rural economic growth. He believes that by listening to residents and working together, Egmont can build a vibrant, prosperous future for generations to come.
